Cryotherapy & Partial Cryotherapy
&
Open Forum
Cryotherapy has been available for some time as a prostate cancer therapy. The results seem promising, but for some reason it has never been a popular treatment. The partial cryoablation of the prostate gland (partial freezing) appears to be a much more benign treatment approach and is receiving national attention as a treatment protocol. Dennis Leri, one of PAF's long standing members, has recently undergone this therapy and will be sharing his experience with the group. Dennis is a prostate cancer veteran of over ten years. He has used diet, supplements, ADT and most recently cryotherapy in his battle with prostate cancer. Join us for an informative evening about this innovative treatment option.
Time will be provided for questions and to address your personal prostate health concerns. Friends, family and significant others are welcome. Get involved and take a proactive approach to your prostate health.

Thank
You Raymond Francis:
Those of us who
attended the April support group meeting learned some great tips on how to
reverse prostate cancer with proper nutrition. If you missed the lecture or if
you’d like to learn more you can visit Raymond’s website at www.beyondhealth.com
His national best selling book “Never Be Sick Again” is available most
everywhere. Thank you Raymond for your lecture and inspiration.
Ten
Steps to a Healthy Prostate:
Although age,
ethnicity and family history of prostate cancer are well established, diet and
lifestyle changes play an important role in a man’s risk. Some studies have
estimated that upwards of 75% of all prostate cancer can be eliminated through
changes in diet. Here are 10 suggestions:
·
Decrease
the amount of fat in your diet.
Olive oil is a prostate friendly oil.
·
Eat
more fish. A good source of
Omega 3 oils.
·
Eat
less meat and high fat dairy.
Better yet, eliminate it altogether.
·
Eat
more tomatoes. A good source
of lycopene.
·
Eat
more soy. Especially miso and
tempeh which are fermented products.
·
Eat
more fruits and vegetables.
At least 5 servings per day.
·
Drink
green tea. 3-4 cups per day,
it’s packed with healthy phytophenols.
·
Control
your weight. There is a link
between obesity and disease progression.
·
Exercise
regularly. 20 minutes a day 3
times per week is the minimum.
·
Manage
stress. Yoga, Qi Gong or even
a walk after a meal will help.
These suggestions
can not only help prevent prostate cancer but will also benefit those with the
disease. (This information is not a substitute for your doctor’s
recommendations.)
Cancer
Climb for
Prostate Awareness – August 2-8, 2008:
There is still time
to sign up and participate. You’ve never seen Yosemite like this! This
is PAF’s primary annual fundraiser and an unforgettable adventure of a
lifetime. These expeditions are designed for three specific groups: aggressive
climbers, casual hikers and those just interested in enjoying the beauty of
Yosemite and being part of the action. This is not the busy, crowded part of
Yosemite valley! This is a camping experience. Our base camp will be in the
beautiful Toulomne Meadows region of Yosemite National Park at 8500’. As
always, an emphasis will be placed on eating a prostate healthy diet while in
the wilderness. The expedition will be composed of prostate cancer veterans,
their families, health professionals and socially conscious individuals. For
more information you can contact Ken Malik at 415-661-2691.
