I think it’s incredibly important that an organization like the PAF can continue to offer men free, non-biased, patient driven information about prostate health. It’s the reason I will be participating once again this year in this important fundraising event.

I have participated in all of the past Prostate Cancer climbs, sometimes I’ve made it to the top and sometimes I haven’t. What I have learned is that it’s the journey, not the destination that is what’s most important.

Won’t you please support my efforts with a generous tax-deductible donation to the PAF. Thanks for your support.

No words can describe my twenty plus years of climbing with the Prostate Awareness Foundation team. Pain, struggle, and accomplishment are just a few. I met Ken Malik the founder of the PAF in 2001 on the first Prostate Cancer Climb at Mt Aconcagua in the southern Andes of Argentina. Since then, we’ve tackled tall mountains in Africa, Europe, South America and the western United States on behalf of the PAF. As with life in general, sometimes we succeeded, sometimes we didn’t, but always we tried and always kept pushing for the top.

I’m now climbing again with the PAF team on this September’s 23rd Cancer Climb & Trek for Prostate Awareness expedition in the Colorado Rockies. This year’s expedition is particularly special to me as I recently underwent a radical prostatectomy, the surgical removal of my prostate.

My father had prostate cancer, so I had some awareness of the disease. In the back of my mind always I suspected I could be a candidate myself. Sure enough, in May of 2018, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and with some help from the PAF I was able to explore my many options before deciding on a treatment path that fit my needs.

So why climb mountains? I climb because I can. Because age, disease and the adversity they introduce should never be a deterrent to living life to the fullest. The PAF provided me with the non-biased, patient driven information and guidance I needed to make a careful and well thought out decision about what to do about my specific condition.

Thank you in advance for your support. You will be with me in spirit when we strive for the sum

It would be an honor to have you support this non-profit on my behalf! The Prostate Awareness Foundation is doing great work for guys like me who have found themselves with lots of questions after a prostate cancer diagnosis. I’ve been active with the group for more than five years and on the board of the foundation for a couple of years.

The funds raised here directly support the organization – not my upcoming trip to join in this year’s Cancer Climb and Trek for Prostate Awareness expedition to southwestern Colorado. This will be my second fundraising trip with PAF. So far I’ve hiked with them Mondays in California, having done more than a hundred hikes around the Bay Area, one trip up to the Mount Shasta area and last year’s trek to the Dolomites in Northern Italy.

I think it’s incredibly important that an organization like the PAF continue to offer men free, unbiased, patient driven information about prostate health. It’s the reason I am participating in this important fundraising event for the second time. I’ll be paying my own way and making a donation myself to the organization.

Please join my efforts with a generous tax-deductible donation to the PAF. Thanks for your support!
